Salma is a curious little girl who loves asking questions.
One afternoon, she asked her father, “What happens to food after we eat it?”
1
Suddenly, a tiny fairy appeared!
“Hello, I’m Ma’rifa, the Knowledge Fairy,” she said.
“Do you want to take a magical journey inside your body to find out what happens to food?”
2
Salma nodded excitedly.
Together, they began the journey inside her mouth.
Ma’rifa explained: “Food is chewed by your teeth and mixed with saliva to make it easier to swallow.”
3
Next, they slid down the esophagus into the stomach.
Ma’rifa said, “Your stomach has special juices that break the food down into smaller parts.”
4
Then they floated into the small intestine.
“This is where your body takes all the good things from the food, like vitamins and energy!” Ma’rifa said.
“What’s left goes to the large intestine and out of the body.”
5
Salma returned from the journey full of knowledge.
She shared what she learned with her classmates.
“Let’s play a game!” she said. “Can you put the steps of digestion in order?”
