Once upon a time in present-day Nepal, a wealthy prince named Gautama lived a life of luxury in a royal palace.

One day, Gautama encountered an old man, a sick man, and a corpse outside the palace walls, opening his eyes to suffering.

Feeling deeply affected by the sight of suffering, Gautama renounced his princely title and set out on a journey to seek enlightenment.

Gautama meditated under a bodhi tree, where he achieved enlightenment and became known as the Buddha, the Enlightened One.

The Buddha traveled far and wide, spreading his teachings of the Eightfold Path and the importance of balance in life.

After a life of teaching, the Buddha passed away peacefully after eating a meal that made him ill, leaving behind his teachings.
