Alice was a young girl, sweet and so kind,
Yellow dress, and hair all twirled and entwined.
At the zoo, she stood with excitement so clear,
For her love of animals, oh, so dear.
1
Zebras were first, with stripes oh so long.
Playing and munching on grass so tall and strong.
Alice stared in wonder as their coats sparkled and shone,
Thinking how beautiful all creatures have grown.
2
A monkey chattered, with fruit in hand,
On a branch up high, in its own little land.
Alice wondered what it would be like to clamber around and glee,
Swinging from branches high up in a tree.
3
A lion's roar echoed, as Alice moved round,
Watching the king of the jungle, so proud and so sound,
Lazing under the sun, the warm breeze on his face,
Alice wondered if he enjoyed the safest place.
4
The sea called for her too, and she went inside,
Where fishes and sharks swam in a long watery glide.
Colors flashing, scales shining, oh so bright,
Alice wished she could jump in for such a sight.
5
Crocodiles then, sunbathing on rocks bright,
Alice's eyes widened, such a wondrous sight.
Under the waterfall's mist stood one so still,
Alice wished she could pet him, and stroke him at will.
6
Following the trail, Alice saw elephants so big,
Parading around, great steps, and a sturdy rig.
Alice's heart filled, for they were such a sight,
Each shaped like joy, grace, and sheer delight.
7
On her way out, Alice paused to look,
At the butterfly, resting on the orchid book.
Its wings so bright, and colors all a blend,
Alice's wondrous day had come to an end.
