Once upon a time in a land so old,
Lived a grandma in a house so small and cold.
With a lovely cat who loved to play,
Causing trouble in his mischievous way.
1
While grandma was busy cooking a meal,
The cat's antics made her so against her will.
He jumped and played, causing a mess,
Knocking over the jar, causing distress.
2
Angry and furious, the grandma took a stand,
Took away the cat's toy and held it in her hand.
She said, "No more until you bring back the milk,
Go find a way, use your wit and your silk."
3
The cat, sad and teary, went on his way,
Met a kind goat, hoping for some hay.
He asked for milk to bring back to grandma,
But the goat said no, with a heart full of trauma.
4
The goat said, "I can't give you milk to take,
For I haven't had enough to make.
Go find me some grass, fresh and green,
Then I'll give you milk, pure and clean."
5
The cat went off, searching for some grass,
Met a gardener, hoping to pass.
He asked for grass, but the gardener had none,
"Go get some water, and we can have fun."
6
Off the cat went, in search of water so clear,
Met a worker, who was stern and near.
"Go find some bricks, to fix the well,
Then I’ll give you water, a sweet-sounding bell."
7
The cat found the bricks, the water now full,
Went back to the goat, no longer dull.
Gave her the milk, she drank with delight,
Then gave it to grandma, ending the plight.
8
When grandma saw the cat with the toy in his sight,
She knew he couldn't return it, try as he might.
She hugged him tight, feeling remorse,
Knowing his heartache, feeling the force.
