Flapping the Elephant's Trunk: A Zoomorphic Dream Come True

The night before the zoo opened, an elephant with long, curved tusks dreamed of flying. She saw herself soaring above the treetops and over the tall, metal gates of the zoo.

1

In her dream, the elephant flapped her big, floppy ears like wings and felt the wind rushing past her face. She closed her eyes and smiled, enjoying the freedom of the sky.

2

Suddenly, the elephant heard a loud trumpet blast and opened her eyes. She realized she wasn't flying, but was back in her enclosure at the zoo. It wasn't the first time she had dreamt of flying, but it always left her feeling disappointed when she woke up.

3

The elephant looked around and saw her friends, the monkeys, playing in the nearby trees. They looked so happy and carefree. She wondered if they ever dreamed of flying like she did.

4

Suddenly, the elephant spotted a hot air balloon rising into the sky nearby. She watched in awe as it lifted off the ground and soared high above the zoo. She could see the entire city from up there.

5

The elephant had an idea. She knew she couldn't fly, but maybe she could take a ride in a hot air balloon. She decided to sneak out of her enclosure that night and find the balloon.

6

Late that night, when all the zookeepers had gone home and the other animals were asleep, the elephant snuck out of her enclosure and made her way to the hot air balloon. It was still tethered to the ground, waiting for its next adventure.

7

The elephant climbed aboard the balloon and the pilot untethered it. Slowly, they rose into the sky. The elephant closed her eyes and felt the wind rushing past her face, just like in her dream. She knew she couldn't stay up there forever, but it was the closest thing to flying she had ever experienced. As they soared above the zoo, a smile spread across her face. She had finally found the freedom she had been searching for.
