Damsel in the Dark: A Fearsome Tale of One Girl's Midnight Misadventure

When the sun had set and darkness did fall, A young girl walked alone in the empty street, All she heard were the sounds of crickets' call, And her heart raced with unknown fears to meet.

1

Her silhouette stood out in the dimly lit street, A lonesome figure, making her way to her home, Suddenly, a twig's crackle beneath her feet, And she knew she wasn't all by herself to roam.

2

She faltered and stopped, halfway through the way, Gazing at the darkened alleyway beside, A sudden gust of wind made her dress sway, And she clutched her heart that did wildly abide.

3

A shuddering sigh escaped her quivering lips, She mumbled a prayer for her safety and protection, Those piercing blue eyes scanned the surrounding tips, And the fear in her heart turned into a vivid abstraction.

4

Just as she took one fearful step ahead, A creeping shadow appeared from the dark, Beneath that veil, a face turned with dread, And she took a gasp, with her life to embark.

5

The ghoulish figure approached with hunger and thirst, Closer and closer, till their breaths could intertwine, Her eyes shut tight, feeling as if she'd been cursed, And all that remained was the unending whine.

6

A sudden flash of light made her open her eyes, Struggling to get her thoughts and feelings intact, It was a man with a flashlight, and he likewise, Was afraid in his heart but acted with tact.

7

For he sensed something suspicious lurking around, In the alleys where he strode, by instinct to his feet, For such unwary travellers, ultimate safety he had found, And he managed to get this young girl off the street.
