Princely Pride and Ume's Prettiness: A Tale of Ancient Greek Romanceā€

In ancient Greece, a handsome young prince of sixteen, With eyes as bright as stars and skin as smooth as cream, Was known throughout the land for his great beauty's sheen, But arrogance and pride were traits his heart did team.

1

One day he met a maiden young, demure and fair, Her eyes were like the sea, so gentle and so rare, Her hair was like a golden field, the sun did glare, Her name was Ume, and in his heart she did ensnare.

2

He tried to win her heart with words so soft and true, But Ume did not care for princes, handsome, strong or blue, She turned her head away, and his heart did feel so blue, But he could not give up his love, so pure and new.

3

He wrote her sonnets with pen and ink so dear, And brought her flowers that filled her heart with cheer, He danced with her beneath the moon, so clear, Hoping to win her heart, to love without fear.

4

But arrogance got in the way, his pride did flare, He boasted of his beauty, his strength beyond compare, And Ume, she turned away, with a look of cold despair, His heart did break, his love it seemed was very rare.

5

He suffered in silence, his heart full of woe and pain, He longed for Ume's love again and again, He knew he was foolish, his arrogance a great stain, He vowed to win her heart, to make things right again.

6

He apologized with words so humble and so true, He asked for forgiveness, with tears in eyes of blue, And Ume, her heart did melt, she knew what she should do, She took his hand in hers, and love forever grew.

7

Their love grew stronger with each passing day, And soon they were married, in a grand display, The handsome young prince and fair Ume, so gay, Their love forever sealed, in every single way.
